ruf lunch...

After church today, I went to the RUF lunch at the Hardwicke's house (a family in our church). Here is a quick shot with Mommy & Daddy!

Mommy has figured out that when I have painful gas bubbles, it feels good to me when she "peddles" my legs!

My vision is getting clearer & I'm able to focus on Mommy & Daddy's face more now... (especially when he sings & dances with me like he's doing here!)

Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention- there were students at the RUF lunch, too! :)

BIG day at church!

Well, it's a tough life being ooh'ed and aah'ed over, and my 3rd week at church today was no different!

Everybody loves to hold me!

But the BIG news is that after church, Mommy & Aunt Sharon were going to change my diaper, and look! My cord fell off and now I have a beautiful bellybutton! Yea!!

putting on my walkin' shoes...

Yesterday I took the first walk that I was awake for!

Cousin Laura, Daddy, Aunt Sharon, & Mommy (taking the picture) were all there watching my every move!

And by the look on my face, can you tell I kinda liked it?!

toadally cool...

Welcome to my house, cousin Laura & Aunt Sharon! Thanks for coming all the way from South Carolina to see me!

And thanks, Laura, for my "toadally cool" onesie! (look at the size of this girl's belly! we told you she was eating us out of house & home!)

Last night, I had a sleeping photo shoot with Emily (our pastor's wife) and I can't wait to see how the photos turned out!

turtle paddles...

My fingernails can grow fast & get really sharp, so last night I slept with mitts (aka "turtle paddles") on my hands to keep me from scratching up my face. :)

We enjoyed a visit from Daddy's friend & "boss," Ronnie, last night.

You didn't think I was happy ALL the time, did you?!

Now THIS is the life...

my little trick...

So, I got all dolled up today & Mommy started snapping SO many pictures of me!

But when Daddy changed my diaper today, I kinda had an accident. You see, I have a little trick I pull on Daddy-- I always save my biggest diaper problems for him. Mommy usually just gets an easy diaper change, but when it's Daddy's turn, I like to see how many bodily functions I can perform at one time WHILE he's changing me! It's so fun to see him squirm! ha ha!

So here I am after Mommy changed my clothes, looking as sweet & innocent as ever...

having fun on my changing table! Until next time, Daddy!

dear corbetts...

I can't WAIT to meet you guys! I'm so excited that my Aunt Sharon & cousin Laura are coming to meet me this weekend!!! I am saving up lots of poopy diapers to change for when you're here... :) (I think Mommy and Daddy are hoping that you'll help them catch up on some sleep, too...)

Granny & Pop, come as soon as you can! We are praying for you everyday and hope this surgery will go great next week so you can come & see me!

Mommy & Daddy tell me everyday about every person in our big family who love me (like Aunt Cammie & Uncle Johnny & all my cousins) and I can't wait for you guys to hold me & kiss me & welcome me into the Corbett family!

See you soon!!! Love, Caroline

sleeping beauty...

At night, I sleep in a beautiful Moses basket that sits at the end of Mommy & Daddy's bed! (thank you, Jill & Sue! it's awesome!) I love to sleep with my hands free up near my face!

And every night, I sleep with the super soft blanket that Mommy Megan gave me!

And even after it's time to get up & start the day, I still want to take a snooze in my swing...

update on megan...

Many of you have asked how Megan is doing, so I thought it was time to give a quick update. Since she & I talk almost everyday on the phone, I'm gonna do my best to relay what I hear her saying. (but Megan, forgive me if I'm way off or feel free to add any additional comments...)

Physically, Megan is slowly healing from the Bells Palsy we told you about in an earlier post. She is gradually getting "tingly" feelings in the paralyzed side of her face, which means the feeling is coming back. She was able to close her eye for the first time the other day. Yea!! (it's the little things that you take for granted, huh?)

Emotionally, Megan has told me that she is doing alot better than she thought she would be at this point. And sometimes she feels a little guilty that she is doing relatively okay, but we are praising God for giving her exactly what we had prayed for: peace and comfort. Obviously, she misses her baby ALOT and still has times of breaking down, (who wouldn't?!?) but I think it helps her to know that she is welcome to call us at any time and say, "What's she doing right now?" We are also trying to keep her stocked up with photos & this blog so that she doesn't feel like she has to lose touch on what's going on. Another thing we're all excited about is that Caroline will be baptized at our church on Sunday morning, April 27th, (Marc will be preaching a sermon on adoption and then baptizing her!) and we have invited Megan to come! She tells us she's counting down the days.... :) That will be such a sweet time for us to all be together again & a wonderful thing for Caroline in the future when she is looking at pictures, etc....

Megan and I know that not every open adoption is THIS open and THIS wonderful, but we just thank God for what He has done and what He is still doing. Because everything HAS gone so well, the 3 of us believe it is just proof that it was God's plan all along.

"Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. Before you were born, I set you apart..." Jer. 1:5

just a lazy Sunday afternoon...

I LOVED laying down on Mommy & Daddy's bed during my waketime today!

Then Mommy sang "Jesus Loves Me"...

And she kept stopping to kiss me!

My newborn eyes love to look at black and white lines because to me, they look like they're moving & wavy!

elvis lip...

So sweet...

How can you NOT love this baby girl?!?

But when she gets ready to eat (and so far, that's about every TWO hours...), she does what we affectionately refer to as the "Elvis lip." :) ha!

Watching a little basketball with Daddy (Texas Tech beating Texas!)... well, not actually WATCHING it yet...
