nanny & papa...

Nanny & Papa, I loved having you come to visit us this weekend!

You guys had me laughing from the first minute! I'm exhausted from all the laughing I did while you were here!

I can almost fit into Papa's cap... ;-)

I love you both SO much.

first RUF...

Tonight was the moment we had been waiting for... our first official RUF here in Lynchburg... ever. We were nervous & excited at the same time!

I (Amy) just so happened to be walking through the parking lot of the Wingate Hotel (where we meet, which is across the street from Liberty's campus) when the first students were walking in! (Lindsay, on the right, is a fan of the blog & a freshman at Liberty, so it worked out perfect for me to scream, "Hey girls! Let me take a picture of the first two students EVER coming to Lynchburg RUF!" without it being totally awkward!) :) And then more and more students kept coming... we had somewhere around 55 students come tonight! We didn't have enough chairs set up! It was packed! Praise God! Marc did a great job preaching, too.

Our music team. (didn't snap any pictures during the meeting- would've been too distracting) But the front desk woman at the hotel, Linda, told us afterward that "Your music was so beautiful. I came over and stood by the door so I could hear you all. You all touched my heart and were an inspiration to me. Your group sounded like hummingbirds!" She said she has to work on Sundays & it's been awhile since she's been able to go to church, but she felt like she went to church tonight. What a beautiful thing! She said that the students were thanking them for hosting our group as they left the hotel.

Okay, and since you took the time to read through all of that, we'll reward you with a funny picture of our daughter...

yummy...

I'm having a great day today! Papa & Nanny have come to visit me (more pics later), and Mommy decided to take a stab at making a big batch of green beans for me!

Now, who wouldn't want a taste of this? :) Yummy, huh? Mommy put them in ice trays to freeze for quick meals later.

Nanny held me as I sampled some extra to see if Mommy's cooking was just as good as the jars...

And after the judge sampled the new taste, she thought... it's pretty good!

bed & breakfast...

Hey, is anybody out there? :) Just kidding! You know, it's getting harder these days for Mommy to take pictures of me because I'm constantly grabbing for the camera!

My aunt loves me. Auntie Jill, I miss you.

Yesterday, I played with Trev & Ty's cars & trucks for the first time. I really liked it when Mommy made the truck zoom across the floor. (I was also practicing sitting up!)

And Mommy finally got the guest room finished, so the Corbett Bed & Breakfast is officially open for reservations! :)

chef in training...

Look what Mommy & Daddy got for free today on our local freecycle website! A little kitchen just for me, (& 2 of my favorite dolls) complete with microwave, sink, stove burners, etc. When I get a little older, I'm going to be a gourmet chef!

But it's tough being a chef in training. First, I have to learn how to stand up! (wow! I'm balancing myself!)

Second, I need to grow. Thankfully, our friends Justin & Caroline sent us the HUGEST box full of my formula!!! (Mommy & Daddy were thrilled, even though you can see I wasn't...)

And pretty soon Chef Caroline will be making her own green beans!

elvis the pelvis...

A couple of 30 second videos that Alyssa took on her camera while she was here...

1/2 a year old...

Caroline Elizabeth, 6 months ago today you came into the world...

...and today, you are still a dream come true.

We love you so much and can't imagine life without you. We praise & thank God for bringing you to our family through birthmommy Megan!

You are a joy and delight.

new things...

Tomorrow I will turn 6 months old! Can you believe it?

Some new things I'm up to: sometimes I'm sleeping with my legs pulled up tightly under my chest & my bottom really high in the air! (Pretty soon I'll figure out that's what I do to crawl, too.)

I'm also attempting to pull myself to a sitting position sometimes, but if Mommy does put me in a sitting position, I might stay that way for 1 or 2 seconds before I fall over forward from the weight of my head! And I told you I got my 3rd tooth in, right? It's a top "fang" tooth!

Oh, and would you believe from the very first time, I LOVE green beans!!!

top ten...

Here are the top ten reasons why I love Alyssa & I'm gonna miss her when she leaves tomorrow!

10. She stayed with me & let Mommy & Daddy go out to meet new friends for dessert.
9. She changed SEVERAL poopy diapers.
8. She gave me my bottles & even fed me my oatmeal & squash.

7. She let me eat her forehead & pull her hair AT THE SAME TIME!
6. She got up early with me one morning so Mommy & Daddy could sleep in.
5. She cracked me up and made me laugh so hard.

4. She let me spit up on her. Lots of times.
3. She put me to bed one night so that Mommy & Daddy could go to dinner together!
2. She was such a great helper to Mommy with cooking.

And the number 1 reason I love Alyssa is...

1. She gave me my 1st RUF t-shirt ever! Yay!

where do we live?

Today our family took a walk on some of the paved trails in Lynchburg that are 15 minutes from our house...

Can you believe how beautiful it is? This trail runs along Blackwater Creek.

Then, Daddy took us through an outdated '50's neighborhood with many small, run-down houses, and... look! All of a sudden we came up to a big gate of (the late) Jerry Falwell's house! Mommy & Alyssa had a little "chat" with the friendly security guard. :)

Where do we live?! I LOVE this place!
