7 year old guest blogger time...

Hi, everyone! This is Caroline. I am so glad to see you all today!
I have been on spring break from last Friday to the next Tuesday
so I will be writing a blog. I am writing about this because I like to
write things so I love to write blogs out to people.

Today I will be writing about how we made Jameson's headboard.
Everyone, I did the same thing to my fireplace just like this picture
below! (Except I used pink fabric instead of brown fabric.)

Do any of you have a kind of fireplace in your bedroom?
This is kind of like a workbook to show you how to make a
creative headboard.  Here we go!
This is a old fireplace they had during the Civil War
in Jameson's room. Instead of using it as a fireplace,
we are going to make it into a headboard. I like the
kind of bricks they used to make the fireplace.

So... what we did was we cut a wood piece the size
that would fit Jameson's fireplace headboard. Then
we cut out soft pieces of fabric called batting. We cut
out a little bit extra so dad could staple it to the back.

Jameson wants to push through the crowd to see what
dad was doing. Haha!

Dad will fold the fabric onto the board piece...

And Jameson will staple it! Don't staple your finger,
baby! Ha!

Jameson is done stapling! Be careful, Jameson!
Watch your finger!

This is what it looked like next.(A little line in the fabric- boo hoo!)
But you won't see it. YAY!

We agreed that Jameson's headboard fabric
should be brown to match his room color.
Don't make it wrinkled like this photo, dad!
Ha ha!

Mom was also taking pictures when I was.
Hey, thanks mom!

Jameson is doing a little shake it happy dance.
Go Jameson, GO! Ha ha!

This is what it looked like when the fabric came on,
and it was put into the fireplace headboard. YAY!
Almost done!

"Yay! We're all done!" Jameson says, hugging mom.

TADA! Jameson's bed is pushed back into it's spot. YAY!

I hope to see you all again very soon.
Bye!

Our resident six-year old blogger is back again, ready to share her photos and her thoughts with you all.  Enjoy!

Photo's by Caroline
Hi! So happy to start another blog! This blog will be about our Washington D.C. trip! How pretty is this? I took it from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.  Down where I'm standing (In this picture) you can't see it but MLK's speech was on the ground.
Mom, Jameson and me are standing IN FRONT of Abraham Lincoln! (statue) I think dad took this one. On the right side of the Lincoln Memorial there is Abraham Lincoln's speech!!!!!
OH MY GOODNESS!!!
Look how pretty the reflection is in the pond! That is so pretty!
Who has ever been THIS close to the White house? I think I zoomed in a little bit. Sorry it's blurry.  My hands wobble mostly when I take a picture.

This is Nick and Megan's dog. We stayed at there the whole D.C. trip.
The dog's name is Moose.
My FAVORITE! THE METRO!!!!!! The first time we got on, We got in the first car and sit right near the driver! The Metro goes super fast!

Here is a picture of the outside of the Metro.
I loved looking at the sign of when the next train  would be there.
The metro took us to the zoo!
The elephant was doing tricks!!! That was so cool! We saw so many animals.
The cool part was that a monkey was climbing on wires! ALL around us!
So cool!
I think I told mom to just pretend she was taking a picture of me. Ha ha! :) :)
This is a Hope Diamond. Ooh la la!
I am pointing at the Washington Monument.

We were walking back to the Metro when all of a sudden, 3 helicopters flew over us. The middle one came down TO THE WHITE HOUSE. That was the President. I'M SERIOUS!!!!!

Bye! See you again soon!

Caroline's trip to Dr. Cabell's...

Hi! This is Caroline.

This is Dr. Cabell's house. I am at Point of Honor. Dr. Cabell is a DOCTOR. Dr. stands for doctor! He was a doctor of Patrick Henry. "Wow! Is this history?" OF COURSE! Right now is 2014-2015! This was 1815. "Yessssss! Now I understand!"

This is a tour lady. I don't know her name.
She was in the house. She was helpful to us. There was this girl in the room and the tour lady was talking about the curtains in the room. The girl said when there was a pause, "Those must be rare curtains!" "They are!" The tour lady said. HaHa! Wasn't that funny?
This is the dining room. (In the house) Do you see the tea cups and tea pourer?  And chairs and table and carpet? "Yes," Well, The tea set is purplish pink, right? "Right," Don't you like it, Althea? "YES! The tea set part is my favorite." Yes. Mine too.
I'm talking about the fireplace. Doesn't it look pretty? "Mmm-Hmm." I kinda wish that the fireplace had a fire in it. Don't you? "Yeah. What about the next picture?" Well....

The mirror is GORGEOUS. The background is the wall! They had the same things we have to paint the walls and designed as we do now. (Well, maybe not the exact same stuff)   "Did you realize the eagle on the mirror?" No! I did not see that, Althea! I wanted to talk about something else and you let me! Thank you! "Welcome." I spy an eagle. Do you see it?
The clock looks amazing. The clock is on top of the piano!  I love it!
Dr. Cabell has the best house in the Downtown Lynchburg. Don't you think so, Althea? "Zzzzzz!" WAKE UP! BLOG! DID YOU FORGET? "What?" Althea! You fell asleep! "Oops." Look right here. Don't you think so, Althea? "Yup."

I took a picture of this floor because its JUST LIKE ME AND JAMESON'S FLOOR in our room!  Dr. Cabell's house was built in 1815.  My house was built in 1851. Hmmmmmm. "Ah!" What? What! "Never mind."
I love this flower picture on a plate.  If you can't see, The flowers are red.
When I took the picture of this, the tour lady in there said, "I've never had someone take a picture of that. Thank you!" Then everyone turned to me, Althea. "Why?" Don't know. They liked it, I guess!

Now, they didn't have kitchens in their houses back then. They had to go to a open house OUTSIDE to make their food. "WHAT?" Yes!

I got pumpkins painted on my face. Can you see the pumpkins on my cheeks? If you can't see, the pumpkins are like real looking pumpkins.

Well, we went to the place where you get your face painted at the Festival on Cabell St. and I asked for pumpkins. She asked, "On both cheeks?" and I said, "Yes, please!" Great, Althea, huh? "Yup!"

Bye, guys! I'll be happy to post another blog!

Photos by Caroline, including Title by Caroline...

 Hi, Friends!
I love to take pictures of things.
This first one is my Dad wearing his helmet over his face after a bike ride on the trails. He is smiling under the helmet.
My mom is funny. She's holding a bunch of toy\fake dollars! (Those are really mine. They go to a thing we have in a basket in the playroom.
Um, Oh right! This is me! I'm close up to the camera. Can you see the polka doted blanket behind me? That's a fort i made. Do you make forts, too?

Jameson, you have been 1 sense November the 8th. Today is September 13th. You have been a wonderful brother to me. Jameson can get a ball any time he wants and finds a vacuum stick, Toy bat, remote control, anything that looks like a stick and he thinks it is a bat and runs over to it and scoops it up and just holds it and only uses the ball!
Oh, hearts, You are a famous star!
Shh! Don't tell anyone this! Secret for you and me! Here we go, "These are stickers and i use them to hold up my signs i make.

I made a sign that said: No Trespassing
Haha!"

I have a piano in my house. Do you? Well, I have a pink dress on in this picture. That loop is my handle of my camera. I have a piece of music on my piano. The title is called: WE WISH YOU A MERRY CHRISTMAS. Can you see the notes (music notes) on the piece of music? I was just about to play that.

My Dad is cutting a watermelon in this photo. I LOVE watermelons. We bought one at the store I think yesterday. Mmmmmmmm! YUMMY IN MY TUMMY! HaHa!

"Tis' hello, Whoever is looking at this photo! I am Callie! I am Caroline's cousin who moved VERY close to her." said Callie. "Thanks, Callie," I said. "I don't think i need you writing on my blog anymore." "OK, Caroline!" said Callie. (Callie was not actually writing on my computer. I just put that on there to make you strong inside)
PHOTO
Ryan and Holly together.
Holly is the one sitting on the left side on the couch. Ryan is the one playing the guitar and sitting on the right side on the other couch. Jameson photo-bombed this picture.
I am not actually writing on the computer in this photo. I am just putting my finger on the T button. Oh! Shh!  Another secret! "Do you see that red button in the middle?" Short secret, Huh?

BOOHOO! I DON'T WANT TO GO. HMPH! HMPH! HMPH! I'LL NEVER LEAVE! BOOHOO!
I guess i have to. Bye! Wait, ballet friends! I need to tell you a few more things! I took this photo for you! "That was 1." you said. Thank you for being here. "That was 2." you said. Do you like me? "Yes, and that was 3. TIMES UP!" you shouted. No, i have about 4 more things to tell you. "Then that would be several." you said. Okay, several. In football there is touchdowns. In baseball you just get one at a time. "1..." you said. WOW! I love it! "2..." you said. I LOVE aquariums! That was a thing on TV. "3..." you said. Football is so amazing. Isn't it? "Yes, and thats 4. NOW! TIMES UP!
O.K., Bye, ballet friends! Bye, Bella! Bye, Kathy! Bye, Katie! Bye, Mary!

six year old guest blogger #2...

Well, I don't know what could possibly top Caroline's first blog post, but she's back in the blogging saddle again, ready to tell you all about one of our little city's most beautiful and historical gems, Old City Cemetery.

We took the kids there last night for a mini photo shoot, and I wasn't the only one busy snapping pictures.  :)

This girl is my CONSTANT reader and writer.  Language is (and has always been) her thing.  She's now beginning chapter books by herself (!!) and there's nothing she likes more than typing out (or writing down) her thoughts.  For instance, instead of acting things out with dolls, she'll go to markers & paper and draw out the scene she's thinking about and write what the characters are saying.  She's amazing.

I'll share my pics with you soon, but without further ado...

here's Caroline, the six-year old guest blogger.

Hi, Everyone!  I went to the Cemetery place and I loved it. One time, me and my Dad were taking the car to the car fixing shop and when we were walking back Dad saw the Cemetery and he said "Caroline, do you want to see the Old City Cemetery?" and i said "Yes! I would love to see the Old City Cemetery!" and there is dead people there too, Yucky! Well, you couldn't see the dead people.
The Cemetery center is not just a place where dead people are. The Cemetery is a place where you learn about stuff about the Civil war.  I really liked seeing the Cemetery.

I took this picture of this bullfrog and whenever it croaked Jameson my little brother ran over to me and clinged onto my leg's and was SO scared of it's noise.  And there were 4 bullfrog's but 1 jumped into the water and we never saw him again. The other 3 stayed right where they stood and never moved a inch or a foot.

it's noise scared me a little bit too. I heard this fidgeting and jumping underwater and i was SO SO SO scared, i didn't even figure out what that Crazy thingy was.
Maybe that fidgeting and jumping thingy was ANOTHER bullfrog, so then that would be 5 bullfrog's. Except that 1 jumped in the water and never came up. i think it died when it jumped in the water.

This picture is cloudy but you can see 1 yellowy thing and 1 orangey thing. Those things are fish. They are almost everywhere in the pond. they are called Goldfish. They're not EVERYWHERE in the pond. i was just trying to explain what the fish were.

And i found the King fish. This photo NEED'S to get you ready and set for more pictures. Am I Crazy? I don't really think so. HaHa! Maybe the King fish was a Queen fish.  Mommy sometimes say's "i think you should start thinking about posting a new blog now." And when it's time to post another one I am SO happy to tell you guy's about my adventure's I've had.

This is the telegraph place. The telegraph place was a long time ago building.   Look very closely near the sun that's really bright.  Can you see something black? Near the gate  or you could call it a fence? that's a long time ago built wagon. and you can barely see the sign that say's: "Stapleton".

I have a story that's called: "Happy Birthday, Addy!" and Addy grew up in the Civil War.  And one time I read something that a MEAN white person said and he said this: "EVERY BLACK PERSON GET OFF, NOW! OR I'LL THROW YOU DOWN TOO!" I don't know if he said "OR I'LL THROW YOU DOWN TOO!" Addy's BEST friend Sarah was with her when that MEAN guy said "EVERY BLACK PERSON GET OFF, NOW! OR I'LL THROW YOU DOWN TOO!" And I didn't tell you they (Addy and Sarah) were on a street-car. And when they rode back that's what happened. Well, they were finished with that (good drug store) and the guy that owned it answered a white lady before Addy and Sarah. and when it was their turn the guy said "what do you want?" in a stern voice. that's what happened when Addy and Sarah were alive.

This photo say's "JEREMIAH CORBETT" and he was a Civil War soldier who died in the Civil War. Was he related to our family, mom? Cause' i don't know yet.
I wish I could of gotten to see Jeremiah Corbett. He even lived in North Carolina, which is where our family is from. (my parent's say that.) (probably still would!)

There is a pest house that tells you the story of some of the Civil War stuff. And there's another pest house that is a hospital that helped people in the Civil War, and why they closed it is because it stinked in there SO bad and it probably smelled like Blood, gross!  And there were mice and rats and i'm so glad that they definitely closed down that hospital when it stinked. i do not know why it put's a red line on stinked. Ughhhhhh! Tired of it.
This is the picture of the HUGE tree swing.   I can't take a whole picture of it, it's SO big.
Under this, guys, is a picture of me on the tree swing.

I am swinging on our... Old Cemetery Center swing.
Mom just said something Crazy Crazy CRAZY! Am I
CrAzY? i don't think so.  Do you like me in my:
New Sun-Hat,
Pink and Green dress,
Pink shoes,
Smile,
And Wig?
I've had so much fun and I cannot WAIT to talk to you again!
Bye-Bye!
