Our hearts are so heavy right now. Remember we told you a couple of days ago about our friend Ann Marie adopting sweet little Spencer and bringing him home? Well, Virginia adoption laws give BOTH of the birthparents 10 days following the birth to change their mind, (in Texas it's only 2 days) and we just received word that this afternoon, on day NINE, their birthmommy Megan has changed her mind and decided to parent the baby.
That's all we know right now, so we'll keep you posted on what happens from here. We just wanted to get our faithful blog readers praying for this! I just can't imagine anything more heart-breaking for Ann Marie and her husband-- to experience all the anticipation of having a child and actually bring the baby HOME for a week... only to have to say goodbye and be back at square one... childless.
Ugh. It just hurts our hearts. As much as the adoption agency ALWAYS prepares you for this potential (the statistics are approximately 1 in 4 end up changing their mind) and tells you that there can be absolutely NO red flags whatsoever and it can still happen, this is the worst case scenario.
So upon hearing this, we called our birthmommy Megan this afternoon to tell her we love her. We were saddened to hear that last week she was laid off from her job that she has had for the past year. So we definitely need to pray that she will be able to find another job quickly that will provide for her & her son, Brayden. (who is now almost 3 yrs. old!) If any of you in the Dallas area have any leads for employment, please let us know.
In other news, remember our friend, Cathy? As we type this, she is currently on the plane headed to Asia, where she will serve for the next three years.
Lots happening. Thanks for praying alongside us...
How tragic. God always has a purpose in everything...it's just tough to understand His will sometimes.
ReplyDeleteWe are praying for the family. God has something better for them in the future. I know it is hard. But we must trust Him.
