another adoption...

Okay, so most of you who've been reading this blog for any time know our adoption story and what an awesome experience it was for us-- being in the hospital room during Caroline's birth almost 14 months ago and enjoying a great relationship with her birthmommy Megan before, during, and after the adoption.

So it was pretty neat when I (Amy) made a comment on another blog about our adoption story, and one of the other readers of THAT blog, Ann Marie, found MY blog and contacted me and told me that she and her husband were currently going through the same situation! (in contact with a birthmom named Megan- crazy, huh?-- and they were hoping to adopt Megan's baby through open adoption this March)

Well, the world got smaller and smaller as Ann Marie and I realized:
1. We live less than 2 hours away from each other.
2. We are both in the same Presbyterian denomination.
3. We have mutual friends-- one of whom was the former worship leader at our church here in Lynchburg!

So, over the past several months, I've had the privilege of talking with Ann Marie on the phone, sharing lots of emails, and offering her what little advice/wisdom I could from our situation.

And this past Friday, sweet little Spencer came into the world and is now happily at home with his new Mama & Daddy. Ann Marie said the time at the hospital was so sweet with Megan and Spencer, (I remember those few days SO well- it was awesome!) but please be praying for the grief that their birthmommy Megan is going through.

Adoption is SO thrilling, SO wonderful and SO exciting, but also overwhelmingly painful at times, too. Pray that the Lord would comfort Megan's heart (and continue to comfort OUR Megan's heart-- we love you & miss you, Megan!) and give her the strength and courage to know that she made an INCREDIBLY sacrificial and loving decision for her baby boy. We pray that she would know without a doubt that God's hand is on her sweet baby boy.

And though I haven't met Ann Marie face-to-face yet, now I've got one more reason to go & see her. :)
